Take a trip into the past with a full day tour from to Gallipoli, travel by air-conditioned minibus to the battlefields and war memorials of the ANZAC campaign of the Battle of Gallipoli during World War I. Embark on a journey through history with a full-day tour of the Gallipoli battlefields and learn about the legendary World War I campaign in which Allied forces, including many from Australia and New Zealand, attempted to open a supply route to Russia. Departing from Istanbul early in the morning, you will set sail towards the Dardanelles Strait, stopping for breakfast between 09:30 and 10:00. Upon arrival in Eceabat, enjoy lunch with panoramic views of the Dardanelles Strait.
Your guide will then take you for a brief overview, starting from the narrowest point of the Dardanelles Strait, to several major battlefields, war memorials, and cemeteries. You will admire Kilitbahir Castle, built by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror in 1463 to protect the Dardanelles Strait. Afterwards, head to the landing beaches of the Gallipoli Campaign and learn how British Empire troops, supported by French forces, landed on the shores to be joined at Arıburnu by ANZACs from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.Highlights of your tour include the Ari Burnu Cemetery and the ANZAC Memorial Area. See the Turkish artillery batteries and the landing beach at ANZAC Cove, the main base of Australian and New Zealand troops. Discover the burial place of ANZAC legend John Simpson Kirkpatrick and pay your respects at memorials erected to commemorate the martyrs, such as the Lone Pine Australian Memorial and the Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial. Depart for Istanbul at 18:00 and return to the city around 11:00 for the end of tour services, with a rest stop along the way.
