Çanakkale

Çanakkale is a historic city in northwestern Turkey, located on the shores of the Dardanelles Strait, which connects the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara. It is renowned for its pivotal role in the Gallipoli Campaign during World War I and its proximity to the ancient city of Troy. The ancient city of Troy (Truva), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies near Çanakkale. It is famously associated with Homer’s epic, the Iliad, which tells the story of the Trojan War. The iconic Trojan Horse, a symbol of cunning strategy, is a key attraction in the region. A wooden replica of the horse, used in the 2004 movie Troy, is displayed at Çanakkale's waterfront, drawing thousands of visitors each year.
